The oil cleansing method has been working out for me well until recently i used some Shea butter that i got from my brother to use on my scars on my cheek & omg NEVER AGAIN ! idk what went wrong but my cheeks broke out so bad & i have little white heads popping out of every pore. I steamed my face over some hot water Friday and its like everything was escaping out but it hasn't improved ... I'm scared to touch my face idk what to do :( I think its time for me to make an appointment to a dermatologist ASAP . I will keep you guys posted on what happens next with my skin :(

Oil Cleansing Method

I've been on the search for a natural skin care regimen that is very simple & good for skin . I think I may found it , even though its only been about 5 days since i've been using the oil cleansing method I seen results already. My forehead broke out & so did my cheeks I tried so many things to get rid of it , but nothing was working to clear them up. My forehead cleared up in about 2 days it feels so great & smooth & my cheeks also only have about 1 pimple left which is great compared to before! My face is always so dry when i cleanse it with soap facial washes so i decided to try something new ....

About the Oil Cleansing Method

A common misconception concerning oil and acne is that oil causes acne. This is not true. Oil alone does not cause acne--other factors like age, hormones and prolonged clogging of the pores of trapped bacteria, dead skin cells and dirt are the actual contributors to acne. The sebum your skin naturally creates is there to protect and heal it. Ideally, oil is GOOD for your skin.

Water cannot dissolve oil, so the vast majority of today's cleansers and toners use chemicals to strip your skin of its oil which irritates it and causes it to produce MORE oil as a result. So why do SO many acne-related products say "oil-free"? Because the oil-acne myth is universally celebrated and sworn by and selling their products using the "oil-free" gimmick makes companies more money

Fact: Oil dissolves oil!

The basic OCM blend is of castor oil and extra virgin olive oil. Castor oil is fantastic at drawing dirt, bacetria and other nasty stuff trapped in your pores, while healing your skin. Extra virgin olive oil works as a moisturizer and is fortified with antioxidants.

  • You take some of your oil blend and massage it into your face. Do it gently and avoid scrubbing because that can be irritating to your skin.
  • Then, you take a washcloth dampened in warm to hot water and drape it over/hold it up to your face and leave it there until it's around room temperature. What you're doing is steaming your face and opening your pores so the castor oil can draw out the dirt and dead skin cells and the other oil(s) can condition your skin.
  • After you're done, gently massage the oil on your face again to free all of the trapped dirt and dead skin cells. Rinse off your washcloth, wring it out and steam your face again. This can be repeated as many times as you like, depending on how much time you have on your hands. It may take you a few OCM sessions to get your routine down and maximize your time efficiency.
  • When you've finished steaming, rinse off your washcloth, wring it out and gently start wiping the oil away. This gets rid of the dirt and dead skin cells you have freed that can lead to acne.

30 Day Water Challenge - Kinda only water lol

Tomorrow (5/15/11) I'm starting my 30 day water challenge to help jump start my weight loss journey. I've been wanting to start this challenge for a while now so i figured its time to stop procrastinating because the sooner i get to it the sooner it will be over . During this challenge i will drink only water & green tea , i know green tea is not WATER but i love green tea & if I'm not drinking juice or soda then i will substitute it for green tea which is healthy with a lot of added benefits & some flavor. This isn't a starving challenge to see how long i can go without food , this is just a water challenge to see how long i can go without juice & soda. During this challenge i am also challenging myself to eat less junk food & make more healthy decisions when it comes to foods & learn how to control my portions. After this challenge I'm hoping the choices i made stick with me after this "challenge" because if i can go 30 days then sheesh ... lol Well wish me the best of luck.
